Moonlight Flowers

At the time I made this beat I remember I was listening to a lot of new school ‘Trap’ based Hip-Hop. I was excited to make these kind of beats myself and ‘Moonlight Flowers’ was the result. With Moonlight Flowers I gave my own interpretation of what I call this ‘trap’ subgenre in Hip-Hop. The style of this beat can be described as dark and is made with some typical Roland TR-808 drums and bass, analog synthesizers, brass leads played in legato, pads, strings, bells and other athmospheric sound fx.

I did not use any samples with this beat (except for the drums). All melodies and chords are written by myself. I think I used both presets (Steinberg Hypersonic, Nexus, Synthmaster)  and own synthesized sounds from Native Instruments Massive. The intro is produced in an interesting way. When I was experimenting in the end of the arrangement phase, I came up with the idea of ‘sampling’ my own chorus. I recorded some parts of the mid section and after that played them in reverse. Besides, I put some fx (Reverb, Distortion and EQ) on top of it to create an abstract atmospherical intro that would build up well to the rest of the track. In my opinion it worked out pretty good!
