This is how I made the beat for “Vlamboir – 24/7” 📺

Beat Breakdown🏗👷🏼‍♂️

Including:
– Harp
– Rhodes
– Synthesizer
– Drums
– 808
– Vocals

A few weeks ago @stripe.vlamboir came to me in the studio on a Friday night. He had written a new song based on a tune he heard on Spotify. The song he played to me was a Dutch hip-hop track with characteristic trap drums and a sensitive vibe. He asked me to make a new beat based on the tempo, vibe and key of that particular song 🌆

So I started with a harp melody followed by a solid drum pattern and a typical 808 bass.
I am not a keyboard player. So most of the time all notes are programmed within my DAW. Sometimes I’ll just play around on my keyboard and record the midi and make adjustments afterwards. (It took me half an hour to play this short harp chord progression for the video👌🏻😂)

With the harp there was still some energy missing in the chorus. So I decided to copy the chord progression to a vintage Roland Juno 60 synthesizer and played around with the arpeggiator function. This gave the song an eighties atmosphere. In the pre chorus I used some Rhodes chords and filtered out the drums to build up some excitement🎛

For 70% the beat was finished in the same weekend. A few weeks later @hannahita joined a studio session to record the chorus and the rest is history. All melodies and chords are composed by myself. No samples were used except for the drums and 808 bass.
